This Week In Austin | Adrian & The Sickness, Shrapnel, Citizen Cope, The Roots
This week’s recommendations run the gamut from hip-hop/soul to metal and singer-songwriter. There’s a little something for everyone. Any other good shows out there I should know about?
Tuesday 10/7
Adrian & The Sickness @ Room 710
High flying, dreadlock swinging, booty shaking rock. This show is also a HAAM benefit, so you’ll be supporting charity while getting your headbang on.
Wednesday 10/8
Presidents of the United States of America and The Black & White Years @ Stubb’s
If the PUSA 90’s throwback doesn’t get you into this show, The Black & White Years’ 80’s influences might. Either way, it’s going to be a fun show.
Thursday 10/9
Shiny Toy Guns @ The Parish
Synth heavy rock with a thick bass foundation. If the grooves don’t grab you, the dueling lead vox of Chad Petree and Sisely Treasure will.
Friday 10/10
Shrapnel and Dead Earth Politics @ Red 7
Metal at its finest, these local bands do the genre proud. It’ll be a hardcore night of sweat-drenched moshpits at Red 7.
Citizen Cope @ Hogg Auditorium
This solo acoustic set is for the coffeehouse lovers. Proof positive that you don’t always have to crank up to 11 to move an audience.
Saturday 10/11
Spin Alley @ Momo’s
A genre-blending mashup of hip-hop, rock and screamo, Spin Alley’s star is rising fast. Catch them at Momo’s, playing 7 Stones’ final show.
She Craves and Adrian & The Sickness @ Merkaba Lounge
A full night of female-fronted rock goodness. It’s She Craves CD release party for their new album Static. This one’s a must-see.
Sunday 10/12
The Roots and Gym Class Heroes @ The Backyard
This week’s No Duh recommendation. No further explanation needed. Make sure you get out to enjoy the original Backyard before they relocate.
