The Monarch Summerfest | Featuring Haunting Oboe Music, Ume + More

This Saturday The Monarch Events Center is hosting a very special event featuring some of Austin’s finest up and coming indie artists. Ume, Ringo Deathstarr, Haunting Oboe Music (ex-Clap! Clap!), Prayer For Animals, Red X Red M, Follow That Bird! and Hey Zeus are scheduled to perform.

Haunting Oboe Music is one of my local indie favorites because they aren’t afraid to venture into experimental, featuring synth, keys and trumpet in addition to traditional rock instrumentation. Extending their unconventional methods into their recordings, Haunting Oboe Music is releasing an EP each month this year. More info and a full review to come, but for now I recommend Brave New Brave from the June EP, which you can hear on Haunting Oboe Music’s MySpace.

The Monarch Events Center is located at 6406 N IH 35 #3100. Everything kicks off at 7pm and the show is all ages with a $7 cover.
