Rubberhed Reunion at Red Eyed Fly [Live Shots]

Rubberhed Reunion at Red Eyed Fly [Live Shots]

Last Friday, local hardcore legends Rubberhed reunited for the first time in at least three years. Some estimates say it’d been nearly five years since their last show, regardless of that, the gigantic crowd at Red Eyed Fly all seemed to be in agreement that it’d been far too long.
Rubberhed, along with Firekills (also freshly reunited), Driver F and Zlam Dunk played to a packed house  to benefit Christine Constante, the sister of Rubberhed’s DJ Shaw, who is battling cancer. If any readers would like to contribute to the cause, please email ana.wolken@b5media.com for further details.

This Week in Austin | Slightly Stoopid, Born to Lose, T-Bird and The Breaks & More

It seems that the SXSW hangover is finally over, as some of Austin’s best locals are playing this week. The lone roadshow recommendation is SoCal dub rockers Slightly Stoopid who always electrify the crowd at Stubb’s. They’ve also played ACL numerous times, but as you’ll read later this week in my interview with drummer RyMo, Slightly Stoopid will not be returning to ACL this year.

Show Preview | Spin Alley, Zlam Dunk & Gobi at Dirty Dog

This Saturday at Dirty Dog on 6th St., four of the finest bands from Texas will take the stage for a night that ranges from electro hip-hop, to urban rock, dance punk and punkhop. It’s a genre-bending show that you don’t want to miss. INsite Magazine is sponsoring the night, and coincidentally, I also wrote a piece on Zlam Dunk for the November issue.
Starting things off are Austinites Gobi, who fold elements of hip-hop into their two man electro show. They’ve been compared to Ghostland Observatory and rightfully so. Keep an eye out for their high-tech t-shirts that move along …read more
