I recently interviewed In This Moment frontwoman Maria Brink for an article in InSite Magazine. The issue hits stands this week, but in the meantime, I’ve got a couple choice excerpts for you after the jump.
Maria shared her thoughts on what it’s like being a woman fronting a metal band and how MySpace, satellite radio and other new media helped In This Moment get where they are today.

When non-natives think of Austin music, they generally come up with the same handful of musicians. Those musicians being Stevie Ray Vaughn, Willie Nelson, Spoon & Ghostland Observatory. Fortunately for those of us who live in Austin, the music scene is much deeper than long-haired hippies and American Apparel-wearing hipster kids.
Metal is, and will probably continue to be, one of Austin’s most underappreciated genres. Even though San Antonio gets all the big tours and metal-friendly venues in Austin are limited, there is a burgeoning metal scene here that can’t be ignored.
