Austin Sound Check

The music in Austin is always good, generally speaking. But every now and again there are times when the good music is lined-up night after night and I’d like to get on my knees and thank the music gods for the gift that is this fabulous music scene.
This is one of those weeks.

This week’s recommendations are littered with everything from singer-songwriter acoustic to metal to retro garage pop and funk. Citizen Cope is the lone roadshow on the list, but there is (as always) a smorgasbord of local music to choose from.

Head to Beauty Bar this Friday for the British Invasion Dance Party. Featuring music by Dans La Lune, The Ugly Beats, Wine & Revolution and DJ Prince Klassen, it’s definitely going down at Beauty Bar.
Dans La Lune brings vintage, danceable pop rock to the table. They have a very classic, early Beatles sound.  The Ugly Beats also have a classic vibe, but its a more raw, garage punk sound ala The Clash.
