A Tribute to Pimp C | Spin Alley covers UGK’s ‘One Day’
The tragic passing of UGK’s Pimp C was felt especially hard around the underground Texas rap scene, which UGK helped build into what it is today. Many touching tributes have been released, but none have struck me like Austin’s own Spin Alley performing One Day at a recent Momo’s show.

APD Taser Local Musician at Bun B Emo’s Show
Robert “Lowkey” Hein of Austin group Dred Skott was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest after the group opened for Bun B at Emo’s last week.
Two local sources lead me to believe that there is more to the story and call into question the use of force, which included a taser and batons.
Did anybody witness the arrest?

Bun B of UGK drops II Trill, playing Emo’s Wednesday
Bun B is still relatively unknown in the mainstream, even after all the attention he and UGK (Underground Kingz) gained after the untimely death of UGK partner Pimp C. As UGK, the duo owned the Texas underground rap scene since 1987. Their first album came in 1992, and by 2000 UGK was working with artists like Three 6 Mafia and Jay-Z. Even guesting on Jay-Z’s hit Big Pimpin.
