SXSW Friday started off with two awesome performances at the DirectTV soundstages in the Austin Convention Center. We got to see The Proclaimers and Third Eye Blind tape sessions that will eventually be aired on DirectTV. However, what was most impressive were the soundstages SXSW had constructed for these tapings.

When Electric Touch takes the stage at SXSW this weekend, it will be their second time at the festival. In between SXSW appearances the band released a new self-titled album and played ACL, Coachella and Bonnaroo. Pretty impressive for a band that’s been together for roughly a year.

SXSW Music Update | Jean Grae, Kylesa, Meat Puppets, Tom Morello & More

SXSW has released an update to the list of showcasing bands for the 2009 music festival. As always, the list is subject to change, but this update brings the total to 1,800 acts that will be performing.
Highlights amongst the new additions include Afrikan Boy, The Black & White Years, The Dollyrots, Dan Dyer, Girl in a Coma, Jean Grae, Harlem, Kylesa, Lions, Manchester Orchestra, Meat Puppets, Tom Morello (The Nightwatchman), Riverboat Gamblers, Silversun Pickups, and Third Eye Blind among many many others.
