Below are this week’s recommended shows in Austin. This will be my final recommended show listing on Austin Sound Check, as I am leaving b5 Media at the end of April. It’s been just over a year since they asked me to start this blog and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

This week’s show recommendations are absolutely packed from start to finish with good music. This is definitely one of the best week’s of music in Austin that I’ve seen since I started putting these recommendations together over a year ago.
There are equal amounts of good local shows and good roadshows, leaving some tough decisions to be made. Who are you going to see this week?

It seems that the SXSW hangover is finally over, as some of Austin’s best locals are playing this week. The lone roadshow recommendation is SoCal dub rockers Slightly Stoopid who always electrify the crowd at Stubb’s. They’ve also played ACL numerous times, but as you’ll read later this week in my interview with drummer RyMo, Slightly Stoopid will not be returning to ACL this year.

The week after SXSW is typically pretty slow for live music. Despite that generality, there are still a few incredible shows this week that are worth your time if you skipped SXSW. Or perhaps your a hardcore music fan that just didn’t get enough. Either way, Austin music never quits and is here to support your live listening needs.

This week’s recommendations are littered with everything from singer-songwriter acoustic to metal to retro garage pop and funk. Citizen Cope is the lone roadshow on the list, but there is (as always) a smorgasbord of local music to choose from.
