Flipper Cancels Tour, Fun Fun Fun Fest Appearance

Brooklyn Vegan is reporting that Flipper has cancelled their upcoming tour, including a stop at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin. Rumors circulating indicate that the Flipper meltdown occurred when bassist Krist Novoselic (ex-Nirvana) left the band.
Fun Fun Fun Fest organizers are reportedly on the hunt for a replacement band. The annual festival is scheduled for November 8 – 9  this year, at Waterloo Park in downtown Austin.

I have nothing but respect for Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters. Dave’s accomplishments in Nirvana and Foo Fighters in the 90’s were groundbreaking. But in this decade, they’ve become overplayed and overexposed. The Foo Fighters are the least exciting band on the 2008 ACL lineup.
The Foo Fighters in the 90’s were fresh, they were new and they were different. 90’s Soundtrack to an Afternoon

Lately my music selection has been pretty heavy on the 90’s end of things. Emo and its various offshoots have taken us all back to Depeche Mode and The Cure era 80’s and synth-pop again entered the mainstream. Meanwhile, I’ve been waiting patiently for the 90’s to take the driver’s seat back.
It seems that the rest of the world is starting to agree. We can only hope this means the end of skinny jeans and guy-liner.
