101X Homegrown Live presents Built By Snow, Harlem and Hollywood Gossip, tonight at Creekside Lounge.

These three bands are some of the hottest indie acts in town right now and rightfully so. Built By Snow and Hollywood Gossip are both riding high after recent album releases and Harlem’s “mutant garage rock” has the hype machine in overdrive. Word of mouth is that Harlem has some tasty early Nirvana influences.

This blogger couldn’t be more excited by the Nirvana comparison, so I’ll be at Creekside Lounge tonight taking this show in. Doors are at 9pm and cover is a measly $5. See you there!

Now that all your family has left town, it’s time to prep for the real holiday, New Years Eve. There will be plenty of music that night, followed by Free Week courtesy of Transmission Entertainment.

Local indie pop rockers Hollywood Gossip released their new EP You’re So Quiet last week at Club Deville. The band was nice enough to send along a couple free MP3s for your listening pleasure.

Bicycle and Something’s Happening are my favorites from the new EP thus far. Both are catchy up-beat, pop songs with infectious melodies and impressive harmonies. Something’s Happening is definitely worth a listen, as the band wrote it as an ode to Austin. Which, as we all know, is the greatest city for live music in the entire world. Yes, I said it.
