The week after SXSW is typically pretty slow for live music. Despite that generality, there are still a few incredible shows this week that are worth your time if you skipped SXSW. Or perhaps your a hardcore music fan that just didn’t get enough. Either way, Austin music never quits and is here to support your live listening needs.

Built By Snow, Grady, Sounds Under Radio Added to Texas Rockfest Lineup

Texas Rockfest has announced additions to their previously announced lineup. Highlights of the additions include locals Built By Snow, Grady and Sounds Under Radio amongst many others.
The festival runs concurrently with SXSW from March 18-21 in various venues and several outdoor stages in downtown Austin. As always, Texas Rockfest is free, with no badge or wristband required for entry. You can get more details on when and where each of these bands will be playing on the Texas Rockfest website.

This week’s recommendations are a smörgåsbord of styles, ripe for the picking.
Kicking things off right on Tuesday, local singer/songwriter Southpaw Jones’ CD release party at Cactus Cafe is free. Sometime Austinites, Grady will be performing at Continental Club on Thursday. However, my personal highlight of the week is Friday night. I’ll be splitting my time between Girl in a Coma and Full Service.

Austin is back in the swing of things, as the post-SXSW hangover has worn off. Gobi & Firekills are both excellent if you are looking for some weeknight entertainment. Also notable are the Krum Bums and Grady shows on Saturday night, both of whom showcased at SXSW this year. Matson Belle (pictured at right) is also a fantastic show, though I can’t personally vouch for their acoustic set.
