If you’re an Austin music fan in need of a getaway, look no further than the 2008 South Padre International Music Fest. The Festival takes place from October 31 through November 2 and is spread out over ten venues across the island.
The lineup is packed with Austin musicians, including Willie Nelson, Ghostland Observatory, Alejandro Escovedo, Del Castillo, Grupo Fantasma, Fastball, Guy Forsyth, Vallejo, and Suzanna Choffel. Other non-Austinite notables include Fog Hat, Los Lonely Boys and Blue Oyster Cult. Additional performers will be announced.

When people from other states think of Texas Music, it usually involves twang and at least one cowboy hat. Now, I’m not saying we don’t have any twang or cowboy hats here in Austin, but the depth of talent in the music scene can’t be contained within that narrow stereotype.
