The music in Austin is always good, generally speaking. But every now and again there are times when the good music is lined-up night after night and I’d like to get on my knees and thank the music gods for the gift that is this fabulous music scene.

This is one of those weeks.

…And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead @ Waterloo Records (5pm, free instore)
You’ll be at Waterloo picking up Trail of Dead’s new album anyway, so why not check them out a free in-store performance? Get there early as it will fill up quickly.

Tribella @ Mohawk
Have you checked Tribella out yet? These uber-talented ladies just celebrated their debut EP release, which is chock full of catchy, new-wave inspired pop.

Pop Americana that I’ve recommended here frequently. Jovita’s is a must on the Southside.

Drunk pop punk that you won’t regret in the morning.

What Made Milwaukee Famous and The Story Of @ The River Flows East Warehouse Party [RSVP]
RSVP to get into this warehouse party, featuring some of Austin’s best pop rock, plus guest DJs from Octopus Project.

Wine & Revolution @ Beerland
Incredibly well done retro garage rock updated with a modern edge.

Pompeii @ Stubb’s
Two words describe Pompeii best: quiet intensity. Their unique brand of indie pop does not disappoint.

The roadshow is king in Austin this week, as X, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Datarock, Ladytron and 65DaysofStatic come to town. 65DaysofStatic are playing their Emo’s show in addition to their slot opening for The Cure at La Zona Rosa on the same night.

Their are two local shows this week that I’m pretty excited to see. With Haunting Oboe Music on Thursday and Dynamite Boy on Saturday, this is going to be a busy week for yours truly.

Not only are they reuniting for a show this Saturday at Emo’s, but Dynamite Boy is also releasing a digital-only album entitled Time Flies. Details are sketchy right now, as the band only has one show on their calendar, but rumor has it that they will be touring in support of Time Flies.

Cruiserweight, Born to Lose, Say Hello to The Angels and The Armour are also playing the Emo’s show on Saturday. Emo’s is all ages and tickets are $9 in advance. Doors at 8pm and the music starts at 9:30. More details are available on Dynamite Boy’s website.
