The music in Austin is always good, generally speaking. But every now and again there are times when the good music is lined-up night after night and I’d like to get on my knees and thank the music gods for the gift that is this fabulous music scene.

This Week in Austin | X, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Ladytron and More

The roadshow is king in Austin this week, as X, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Datarock, Ladytron and 65DaysofStatic come to town. 65DaysofStatic are playing their Emo’s show in addition to their slot opening for The Cure at La Zona Rosa on the same night.
Their are two local shows this week that I’m pretty excited to see. With Haunting Oboe Music on Thursday and Dynamite Boy on Saturday, this is going to be a busy week for yours truly.

Dynamite Boy reignites this weekend

Dynamite Boy was one of Austin’s top bands when they broke up in 2005. Signed to Fearless Records, they called it quits after a decade of making fun pop-punk together. Their cover of AC/DC’s TNT is one of my favorite covers to this day, rivaled closely by Dynamite Boy’s rendition of I Want it That Way by The Backstreet Boys.
Not only are they reuniting for a show this Saturday at Emo’s, but Dynamite Boy is also releasing a digital-only album entitled Time Flies. Details are sketchy right now, as the band only has one show on their calendar, but rumor …read more
