Below are this week’s recommended shows in Austin. This will be my final recommended show listing on Austin Sound Check, as I am leaving b5 Media at the end of April. It’s been just over a year since they asked me to start this blog and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

Texas Rockfest Announces 2009 Lineup

Texas Rockfest, the long-running, fiercely independent counterpart to SXSW, has announced it’s 2009 lineup. Highlights include Broken Teeth, Dead Earth Politics, Dremnt the End, Flatfoot56, Full Service, and Petals. You can view the complete list of all 123 bands after the jump.
Texas Rockfest runs from March 18 – 21 in Austin, coinciding with SXSW. This will be the festival’s tenth year. Visit Texas Rockfest’s Website and MySpace for more information.

This week, Austin is a veritable cornucopia of good local music. It’s too hot to do anything during the day, so hit the clubs after dark when it’s nice and cool out.

Album Review | Dead Earth Politics “Mark The Resistance” EP

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Austin’s local metal scene is under appreciated. However, bands like Dead Earth Politics are keeping it alive. Their debut EP, Mark The Resistance has built Dead Earth Politics’ buzz around town and is raising the bar for local metal bands across the board.
