This Week in Austin | Slightly Stoopid, Born to Lose, T-Bird and The Breaks & More

It seems that the SXSW hangover is finally over, as some of Austin’s best locals are playing this week. The lone roadshow recommendation is SoCal dub rockers Slightly Stoopid who always electrify the crowd at Stubb’s. They’ve also played ACL numerous times, but as you’ll read later this week in my interview with drummer RyMo, Slightly Stoopid will not be returning to ACL this year.
Full recommendations are below for your perusal. Who are you planning to see in Austin this week?

Kicking things off in this week’s recommendation is Modest Mouse on Wednesday. Though they’ll be playing without Johnny Marr, the demure rodents are still worth seeing.
Local highlights include a guaranteed raucous punk show from Born To Lose, Sunday’s Yellow Bike Project benefit at Mohawk featuring Oh No Oh My and Follow That Bird!
Full recommendations after the jump.

Their cover of AC/DC’s TNT is one of my favorite covers to this day, rivaled closely by Dynamite Boy’s rendition of I Want it That Way by The Backstreet Boys.
Not only are they reuniting for a show this Saturday at Emo’s, but Dynamite Boy is also releasing a digital-only album entitled Time Flies. Details are sketchy right now, as the band only has one show on their calendar, but rumor …read more
