This weekend is simply packed with good shows, including Saturday night at Beauty Bar. Local mash-up hero Car Stereo (Wars) is playing, along with The Hood Internet, who recently got some great press for their mash-up of Britney Spears and The Department of Eagles.

The weather in Austin is finally cooling down and it’s going to be a great weekend to be out and about enjoying Austin’s finest music. One must-see show is Car Stereo (Wars) set at Beauty Bar on Saturday 9/20.
If you’re a fan of Girl Talk, CS(W) is for you.  However, CS(W) is the superior mixer in my opinion. Greg Gillis hasn’t mashed Ghostface Killer and Ghostland Observatory.

Fans of hip-hop, electro and Ghostland Observatory listen up! You need to go see Gobi, NOW.  The Austin-based two piece is the up and coming act that all the cool kids like. If peer pressure isn’t enough to get you up off the couch, rest assured that the music will be worth it.
Gobi is playing Beauty Bar with Pissing Neon and DJ Thibault on Monday, September 15. You can download a free Gobi track, The Way We Live, on the first edition of Austin Soundcheck’s mixtape series, Feedback Vol. 1.

One of hip-hop’s founding fathers, Afrika Bambaataa, is appearing at Beauty Bar with Starlynx, this Sunday, June 8th.
Bambaataa worked in the early days of hip hop in the 1970s and used it as a tool to decrease gang violence and bring people together. Bambaataa is considered a modern day musical revolutionary among his peers. He has worked with the Sex Pistols, been covered by Rage Against the Machine and was nominated to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you’ll recall a post on April 30th about a Kanye West Glow in the Dark Tour afterparty at Beauty Bar. The bash was being hosted by DJ Craze, Kanye’s tour DJ.
