90’s Soundtrack to an Afternoon
Lately my music selection has been pretty heavy on the 90’s end of things. Emo and its various offshoots have taken us all back to Depeche Mode and The Cure era 80’s and synth-pop again entered the mainstream. Meanwhile, I’ve been waiting patiently for the 90’s to take the driver’s seat back.
It seems that the rest of the world is starting to agree. We can only hope this means the end of skinny jeans and guy-liner.
Without further ado, I present you with some of the best 90’s music that was the soundtrack to my afternoon.
Rage Against the Machine - Down Rodeo
I’m secretly hoping they will play ACL 2008.
Foxboro Hot Tubs - Ruby Room
Included because Green Day finally admitted what we all knew.
Flys - Got You Where I Want You
From the Disturbing Behavior soundtrack, this one will get stuck in your head.
Dr. Dre - California Love
One of my favorite hip-hop songs of all time, it will get me moving everytime.
Nirvana - Verse Chorus Verse
I can’t write about 90’s music without mentioning Nirvana. One of their best, but lesser known songs.
Faith No More - Midlife Crisis
Lead singer Mike Patton is one of the enduring talents of the 90’s. I’m a huge fan of his new work with Peeping Tom.
Garbage - Stupid Girl
Rumors abound that Garbage is getting back together. Butch Vig says they’ll be recording new material this year.
Beastie Boys - Super Disco Breakin’
This track is from my favorite Beasties album to date, Hello Nasty.
Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground
The only Sneaker Pimps album featuring Kelli Alli on lead vocals. Not surprising, they haven’t done anything noteworthy since.
White Zombie - Black Sunshine
One of the best White Zombie tracks and Guitar Hero 3 favorite.

Love It! My own 90’s mixtape would have a lot of these same tracks.
