Jason Reece (Trail of Dead) and Autry Rene Fulbright (Dragons of Zynth) are collaborating on a new project called Midnight Masses, which also features a handful of other Brooklyn musicians.

The massive side project is equal parts darkly Gothic and cathartic folk rock, at least judging by the one song that’s available on the net. Click over to Midnight Masses’ MySpace and see if you agree that Redemption Rain is incredibly haunting.

Jason Reece will be pulling double duty on Trail of Dead’s upcoming jaunt as Midnight Masses has been announced as tour support. Midnight Masses will also be appearing at SXSW. Full tour intinerary is below for your perusal.

Midnight Masses has recorded a 7″ that will be available at all tourdates, with plans to release the songs digitally on March 10th, along with a 3rd bonus song. Both an EP and full length LP are planned for later in 2009.
