This Week in Austin | Los Bad Apples, John Legend, Lions, Badfish

My recommendations begin this week on Thursday night, when local Latino / hip-hop fusionaries Los Bad Apples take the stage at The Parish. It’s gonna be a barn burner folks, I guarantee it. Get there early.

National acts John Legend, KRS-One and Badfish will also be through Austin this week, rounding out yet another week packed with talent.

Thursday 1/22
Los Bad Apples @ The Parish
An irresistible combination of Latin and hip-hop influences that I guarantee you haven’t heard anywhere else.

Friday 1/23
Tiny Tin Hearts @ Emo’s (outside)
A repeat favorite, Tiny Tin Heart’s pop Americana is unique sound not likely encountered elsewhere.

Prey for Sleep and Southern Front @ Red Eyed Fly
Hardcore metal at it’s best on the local tip.

John Legend @ Bass Concert Hall
This week’s No Duh recommendation. No further explanation needed.

Saturday 1/24
Built By Snow (CD Release) and Hollywood Gossip @ Club Deville
A good night for indie pop rock all around, be sure to pick up your copy of Built By Snow’s new album MEGA.

Lions @ Emo’s (inside)
Sweaty, moshing alt rock for sure. See these guys before they head back out on the road.

KRS-One and Dubb Sicks @ Mohawk (outside)
Another No Duh recommendation. KRS-One is a legend. Some of Austin’s finest rappers are supporting him at the Mohawk. Get there early to check it out all.

Sunday 1/25
Full Service, Badfish and Grimy Styles @ Emo’s (outside)
A must see for fans of reggae and dub (see Sublime). Badfish is a tribute band and Full Service and Grimy Styles keep the local original flavor in the same vein. Will be a great night all around.
