‘No Recent Developments’ in Faces Reunion

The internet has been abuzz recently with rumors of a Faces reunion. The ’70s blues rock band was comprised of Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Rod Stewart, current Austinite Ian McLagan, Ronnie Lane and Kenney Jones. Faces is often credited with influencing generations of musicians including The Replacements, The Black Crowes, Primal Scream and Pearl Jam among many others.

Los Lonely Boys are returning to the road this month, announcing a string of tour dates including three with fellow Texicans Del Castillo. This is the first tour Los Lonely Boys since their holiday release Christmas Spirit was released to much acclaim in 2008.

An update to a story I first brought you last year. Two local sources are reporting that The Backyard has received zoning approval for their new location. Construction is scheduled to being this Spring.
This is good news for fans of the The Backyard, which was essentially forced to relocate after a strip mall was constructed around the venue.

SXSW lineup information has been steadily trickling in, but today SXSW has released it’s first official preliminary lineup. It’s a long one, so click through the jump to see the full list.
Today’s preliminary lineup is an update to the list I first brought you last week. There have been several exciting new additions including Melissa Auf der Maur, The Cliks, The Proclaimers and Dredg.

I first told you about Dutch hip-hopper Arts the Beatdoctor and his Austin-based label Beats Broke last year. Now, SXSW has recognized the talent in both Arts the Beatdoctor and labelmate In Stereo, confirming both for a showcase at the 2009 festival.
Arts the Beatdoctor and In Stereo are great additions to a SXSW lineup already rife with hip-hop talent like Bavu Blakes, Blaqstarr, Sage Francis and Killer Mike.

Trail of Dead Announce More Tour Dates

…And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead have announced additions to the tour schedule I previously told you about last month.
The band has scheduled more North American dates in March, after which they will depart for their UK tour. I’m also gonna go ahead and start the rumor that we will perhaps have a Trail of Dead appearance at SXSW, as this schedule would totally allow for it.
