Ryan Gosling’s Band Playing SXSW 2009

File this one under news that is sure to please the ladies. Actor Ryan Gosling (The Notebook, Lars and the Real Girl) will be performing with his band Dead Man’s Bones at SXSW 2009.
The band is on the schedule for a showcase presented by their label, Werewolf Heart Records. No time or venue is available for the show as of yet.
View the live video for Dead Man’s Bones’ song In The Room Where You Sleep below. Ryan Gosling is the lead singer and pianist and is joined by Zach Shields on drums.
I’m reserving the right to fully critique Dead Man’s Bones till they have a proper recording available. Judging solely by the live video and accompanying live track on MySpace, I think Dead Man’s Bones has potential.

Ryan Gosling is a good looking man. He had a nice voice. He can play the piano. That’s all you need to make it in the music business.
The song in the room where you sleep and the name of the band dead man’s bones is spooky. It a good spooky though.
I say as long as the words are clean. If it has a good sound. Anything possible in this crazy world.
Ryan shows some musical promise, but I thougyht it was some prelude to the sng the “monster mash” Ryan sounds too forced. On a positive note, Ryan seems to be a person who will try. You don’t want people sucking down your music because they have an imagined crush on you (like Keanu Reeve’s Dogstar). Ryan you haven’t found your sound yet. You have to use the same soul you put into your acting into your music. Obviously, I’m looking for distractions from my own writing if I’m commenting on this. But my comment is a gift. BBFN
