Quincy Jones to Deliver SXSW Keynote Address

The legendary producer Quincy Jones has been announced as the keynote speaker for SXSW’s 2009 Music Conference.

Jones’ numerous credits include 79 Grammy nominations. He is best known as the producer for Michael Jackson’s album Thriller. Over the span of a clearly iconic career, Quincy Jones has also worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Donna Summer among numerous others.

Also recognized as a long-time humanitarian, Jones also produced the song We Are The World which benefited Ethiopian famine relief.  At SXSW,  “Jones is expected to discuss the power of music to influence and create positive change in the world and the responsibility of the artist to use their craft to bring people together for the betterment of mankind.”

    There’s a recording of Quincy Jones giving a speech at the Grammy’s a few years ago that is very funny. Quincy must’ve been drinking or something else at the time and he just rambled for a very long time about nothing, even ignoring a few stage cues to leave.
