Austin Sound Check

The Grind is an annual event put on each year by Roadway Productions, the company responsible for other events like ROT Biker Rally and Batfest. The Grind features some of the best in alt rock talent alongside wakeboarding, skateboarding and street biking demonstrations.

The Grind 2008 is this Sunday, April 6th and features music from Mickey Avalon, Eve6 and San Antonio-based Girl in a Coma, among others. Although they aren’t from Austin, San Antonio is just a short drive down 35 and we’re lucky enough to see Girl in a Coma fairly regularly as they rise through the ranks. Signed to Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records in 2006, the girls have recently toured with The Toadies and Morrissey, and played SXSW 2008. Their show at The Grind is the first stop in another national tour for these road warriors. You can keep up to date with their tour schedule at Girl In A Coma’s MySpace.

This event will feature professional wake boarders competing in a rail jam for major awards, along with live music by over 6 alternative rock bands, great food, graphite artist exhibits, custom boat accessories by numerous vendors, wakeboard accessories, wakeboard instructional sessions, a showcase of the latest wake board boats, and much more. Get ready for another great boating season and enjoy some high flying shows and great music. We will also have Skateboarding competitions by pro athletes, skateboarding gear, and a street bike show.
